EU SCCS issues opinion on child exposure assessment of butylparaben.
On January 13, 2025, the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) of the European Union issued a preliminary opinion on the child exposure assessment of butylparaben. It is considered that when used in cosmetics at a maximum concentration of 0.14% (calculated as acid), it is not safe for children of some age groups to use products in combination. Except for body lotion, it is safe to be exposed to only a single product category. To ensure the safety of children of all four age groups, the maximum concentration of butylparaben in the final product should not exceed 0.028% (calculated as acid).
